DREADNOUGHT CARGO SHIP MODEL 7 (DSC-7)
Mostly a frame made to stack huge containers, this ship has a rear part and a front part that actually makes the ship run, the rest is nothing but frames to hold specially design crates.
In perspective, the cargo frame area is almost 2 kilometers long by 0.8 kilometers wide.
It carries a total of 768 Cargo Crates (DCSC-03, see below) for an overall Cargo Capacity of 2,304,000 Metric Ton
The rear part is a large ship with very little living area, mostly designed to travel through what is nothing more than a gigantic engine core with 4 huge reactor.
The front part has the equivalent of a bridge and a few living quarters, just for the sake of it, but mostly, its tunnels and access to all the navigation system, weapons, deflectors, etc.
The ship is 'Automated', but it does have a very limited crew of 2; a Navigator and a Mechanic.
In case of emergency, they are supposed to wait for an actual crew to come find them and fix whatever problem they have, but for anything that cannot wait, they will try and fix the problem while waiting for the repair crew, which should arrive relatively fast (within 15 days at most).
The 2 crew lives in the front section, enjoying the trip. They have each 1 luxurious living quarter, +2 other quarters for possible guests on the way (if any). They have a cafeteria, a gym, a virtual play room, even a small pool. A great job! .. unless something goes wrong, then it may be kind of stressful.
In the past 20 years history of all the 7 Dreads, the massive cargo ship faced mechanical failure only 3 times.
Dread Cargo Ship Crate Model 01 to 28 (DCSC-03)
Each crate is 425 ft long x 85 ft in width and height, carry 3000 Metric Ton = 3,000,000 kg or 250,000 square ft
so 100 times the size and carrying capacity of the standard Earthling container 40 ft x 8 ft x 8 ft that carry 30 Metric Ton (30,000 kg or 2500 square ft)
In perspective, One single Crate is a little bigger than the size of two NHL Hockey League Ice Skating Area put one after another. (NHL Ice is 200 ft by 85 ft)
Each models have variations, such as some are small living quarters, others only carries stasis pods, others have chains, others have shelves, some are divided in smaller containers, etc.
Size Does Matter:
Although the Dread is not a combat ship, the sheer size of its cannons makes it a threat for even the biggest and baddest pirate ships out there. A single shot can obliterate more than 80% of all existing ships in the Charter and while it may not obliterate the last 20%, all pirates knows the Dreads has at least 5 to 20 other such cannons, hidden within the crates all around the ship's cargo.
