1702: Ghateelock's location was discovered
A plain, surrounded by high mountains, forest and with numerous strange magical properties, located next to the Natyr's river and close to where the river merges into the East Sea. An area with many secrets, and strategically easy to defend against invaders. The entire area provided gemstones, gold, silver, trees, farmland, and more. The perfect place to build a prosperous city. The problem was to access it, one had to travel through the harsh plains of Monghalor to reach the sea, and from there, travel into the mouth of the Natyr's river. Of course, reaching the East sea from anywhere else could work too, but the closest civilization was still many days of travel away, and the area south of where Ghateelock is now built, was notorious for it's pirates and few dared travel far enough north to reach Natyr's river. All to say, without opening the gap in Natyr's Lake, Ghateelock would never have been built.
1711: Opening of the Vhaliss Neck
A young Noble man called Tiamat Vhaliss spent a large amount of gold to have workers dig the Natyr's river, to deepen and enlarge what was then a narrow and shallow river, splitted into three branches roughly half a kilometers apart, all running East on just about 20 Kilometers before it grew larger and larger as other rivers came merging into it. Workers dug to make those three branches into one single large river of half a kilometer in width, and they dug it all as one on a length of about 20 kilometers before the Natyr's river became what it is today, a very large river.
1723: Ghateelock's first Settlement
Financed mostly by Lord Vhaliss, under the flag of King Rhoamon of Dragonwrath, 16 families, approximately 60 people, led by Lord Vhaliss went to that unique plain. They created a small settlement in what is now known as the Barranor District, building a small Keep in the middle of the triangle formed by the Tree of Hope, The Forbidden Lake (which wasn't forbidden back then), and the small lake in the Stream. The keep where Lord Vhaliss started it all is now known as Constable Nam's house in Barranor. Rumor says Ghateelock Settlement shared the land with an underground race called The Khavi, but they haven't been seen or heard of for over three centuries. Historian often refer to Ghateelock being the only place in the entire Dragonwrath Kingdom, where Slavery was not allowed.
1725: Adamantium was discovered
The mountains offered various kind of gemstones and gold deep inside its tunnels, but when Adamantium was discovered in a never seen before quantity, Ghateelock's population increased tenfold in that same year. Everyone wanted a piece of the pie and wanted to work in what is now known as the South Mine. The problem was, and still is, the dangers of harvesting it. Most of the precious metal is located high in the stones and it caused many to fall to their death every single day.
1728: Vhaliss Keep was built
A castle built at the top of the Crown of Fire in what is now know as the Fuller District.
1730: The South Mine
After having to deal with over 300 death in so little as 5 years in the mines, Lord Vhaliss turned the mines into a prison and blocked everyone else from mining it at their own risk. The move was bold, forcing countless merchants away from running their own little business of mining, but most of them had made their share of gold already. From that day forward, only criminals would risk their lives to harvest the precious Adamantium, but also, 100% of it all would now be a profit for Lord Vhaliss and to benefit the growth of Ghateelock instead of inflating merchants and noble's pockets.
1731: Ghateelock became a Township
With a population above 1000 people, Ghateelock officially went from Settlement/Village to being a Town under King Rhoamon of Dragonwrath.
1772: Ghateelock became a City
With a population above 8000 people, Ghateelock officially became a City under King Rhoamon of Dragonwrath.
1783 to 1789: The Satyr War
To grow, Ghateelock needed more and more Lumber from the vast forest spreading south. At some point, Woodland creatures known as Satyrs began to attack the lumberjacks to protect their forest. Using other allies in time, the attacks grew bigger and bigger, turning the whole thing into a war. Satyr's would raid the farms, even the city some nights. The death toll was approximately 300 citizen and estimated to be 150 Satyr and other Fey creatures over a period of five years, until Lord Vhaliss came to an agreement and a treaty with the Woodland creatures. Skirmishes continued to occur on both sides, there is always some that aren't happy, but nothing major.
1805: Ghateelock became a Large City
With a population above 12000 people, Ghateelock officially became a Large City under King Rhoamon of Dragonwrath.
1821: The fall of Lord Vhaliss
History is vague on what happened or why, but one thing every historian agrees upon, is that Lord Vhaliss's entire family was murderer while he went away for a few days. Some historian believe King Rhoamon of Dragonwrath had something to do with their death and that Lord Vhaliss went to the Capital of Dragonwrath seeking vengeance. It took a few days before most people would know their Lord had been slain, but The Hand of King Rhoamon of Dragonwrath soon after announced not only the death of Lord Vhaliss, but the death of King Rhoamon of Dragonwrath as well, whom had been slain by Lord Vhaliss, thus voiding all his hard work to make Ghateelock prosperous, sending Ghateelock into a long history of Rulers, changing every few decades. It kept growing, but much slower than it would have under Lord Vhaliss.
1822: Phynola Lordship
A new Family was assigned to rule over Ghateelock. The Phynola family, mostly all Humans with possibly a few bastards. The city had been managed by the Phynola Family right after the death of Lord Vhaliss, but it wasn't official until the new King had be selected and then crowned. Ghateelock City was now under King Prhall of Dragonwrath. The Phynola Family lasted three generation before their power was taken away and given to another Noble family. Historians believe the Phynola family had too many unpaid debts.
1823: The Slavery Act
After a long year of what could only be known as thoughtful evaluation, a new chart of laws was established and would now be enforced. Nothing out of the ordinary, except that Slavery was now allowed, as per the usual laws of the Dragonwrath Kingdom.
1824: The South Mine
Lord Phynola turned every prisoner in the South Mine into Slaves and each were sold to other Noble families, under whom, they'd continue to harvest Adamantium, but for their owners instead. Most Noble families bought some slaves and began trading both Slaves and Adamantium to increase their wealth. Many historian speaks of Khavi's being forced into slavery so they could harvest the mines, allegedly, one Khavi would be worth ten men, when it came to calculate how much Adamantium one could harvest in a day.
1825: The Khavi War
Few historians dare mentioning this war, for everyone wanted to forget what happened on the first full moon of that year's night. Rumor has it the Khavi were attacked by Lord Phynola first and that night was but the few Khavi left alive, retaliating against them. Historian believe a mere fraction of the Khavi, roughly 60 of them, survived a genocide against them by Lord Phynola, and retaliated. Walls were obliterated, houses came crashing down, the city sacked all over, killing approximately 1000 people in their wake. The Khavi became some monsters with their monkey face and their tentacles that can rand a man with little efforts and tear through stone like a knife through butter. This fight lasted about four days before all the Khavi's were either killed or ran away, never to be heard of again. Some rumors amongst historian claims this war started because the alliance with the Khavi was conditional to the non-slavery laws Vhaliss had enforced all those years.
1903: Danallis Lordship
A new Family was assigned to rule over Ghateelock. The Danallis family, mostly all Humans with possibly a few bastards. They ruled over Ghateelock under King Prhall of Dragonwrath. for four generations. The city grew, but managed to not get into any wars or conflict, although the Woodland creatures made sure the lumberjacks would never past the Satin River, deep in the South Wood, which was in a way, the limit of their land, although they attacked and made sure the lumberjack wouldn't get any closer than 5 kilometers from the river. Lord Zane Danallis was infertile and outlived all his siblings, which left the family with no eligible Heir, and his marriage with Lady Seskel Auburn allowed for the Auburn Family to take over.
1998: Auburn Lordship
A new Lord was assigned to manage Ghateelock. The Auburn family, mostly all Humans with possibly a few bastards. They ruled over Ghateelock under King Prhall of Dragonwrath for three generations before an unexpected return of Lord Tiamat Vhaliss himself, who hadn't been killed after all, or so they claimed. Being an Elf, Lord Vhaliss's story could be true, which would make him roughly 500 years old.
2063: Emperor Vhaliss
Lord Vhaliss took over the city, creating a large and very high Tower in the center of the city, a tower that appeared overnight. He not only took over Ghateelock, he declared Ghateelock.s independence from King Prhall of Dragonwrath, proclaiming Ghateelock and its area as his own Empire. Changes were planned, noble families left or fell in line with their Emperor's new plan, but those who stayed wouldn't live to regret it, as Ghateelock began to prosper once again and its population would grow fast once more.
2065: The Walls
One of the first thing Lord Vhaliss started building, employing the entire population in a way, was to build and rebuild the walls to protect the city. Walls that had been left to ruins after the wars. Expecting the King to try and take Ghateelock back, it was a priority. Using his own magic, Emperor Vhaliss and his Wife are known to have worked hard to have those walls built stronger, higher and longer, in a tenth of the times it would normally take.
2077: The South Mine
The South Mine's Slaves were removed from the mines and it became a prison and punishment again. Slavery has been regulated but not forbidden.
2111: The End of Magic Era
Every magic items, spellcasting, supernatural powers and anything related has somehow been dempened greatly, to the point of not working at all most of the time. Magic as we knew it is no more.
