They continued to explore and decided not to focus on finding the place where the rubbles were, so they ended up exploring everywhere they could reach, except one staircase, where they decided not to climb up. They eventually found the rubbles and began digging.
They began digging and moving stones and dirt to free the passage Tchignak asked Sammy to clear, Sammy using his spells to help, Mithran keeping watch while the others put in some muscle work.
About an hour in, they heard some noise and voices, but ignored it and kept on digging, making lots of noise. At some point, Ragnarock decided to go and have a look. He saw a Satyr creature with two members of the Red Gate Guild. He decided to return to his friends and let them know, but then they decided to keep on digging and working.
After a bit of time, Vrac went to a corridor a little further from where they were digging and saw Mr. Crawley was coming towards them.
Mr. Crowley, who turns out to be Constable Bugg's butler was alone. They talked and he was acceptably nice to them, although he ended up warning them that maybe Bugg wouldn't let them leave, ever. This whole place is under his care, Mr. Crawley apparently cleared it from an infestation of Goblins and Hobgoblins in the past few years and had been keeping it clean for the last six months.
They defied his recommendation to leave and after he returned, he offered them a choice: either Bugg would kill them, or they could work for him and attempt to open a sarcophagus for him.
Mr. Crawley claimed having talked to Priest Kharn and made sure he wouldn't open the door for them, so they were trapped. They said they'd try their chances with whatever was on the other side of that rubbles.
Mr. Crawley left, leaving them to decide what they'd want to do.
They investigated the sound of weird click and gears echoing through the walls and based on what Mr. Crawley said and what they found in the room where the two members of their guild were sent, they had failed to open a sarcophagus and a trap involving boiling water had likely killed them.
They decided against trying their chances with the sarcophagus and finished digging through the rubbles to find the stairs leading down and deeper into the catacombs.
They explored a few rooms, found some goblins, a few fighters, but also females non combatant and kids. They slaughtered them all.
They explored a little further and found a hobgoblin in a small room with a staircase. Hoping to find an exit, they climbed it up, only to face a locked trap that was packed with stuff on top of it. Despite all their efforts, they couldn't get it to open up, so they decided to bang into it until someone came, which took 20 minutes.
The voices and what they heard allowed them to find out they were about to get out somewhere directly inside one of the walls of the city, with many Wall Guard waiting for them on the other side, as the guards were moving heavy objects away from the trap. Clearly, those guards didn't know the trap even existed, covered by a carpet and probably a bunch of crates and barels.
When the trap finally opened up, Mithran shut it down right away and placed the lock back on.
