Summary Game #5:
Players: Steve, Vincent, Alex, Pat, Ben
Another 3 weeks has gone by.
The war is waging between the Red Gates and the Maleekym.
5 members of the Red Gates were murdered during those weeks, in retaliation to an attack where 5 Maleekym were killed near the Cathedral of Phandrak.
Everyone in the Red Gates are being more careful as the war continue.
Zephyros' information concerning Constable Flaugh and potentially 3 traitors amongst the members of the Red Gate made the group of them worry, but they decided they needed to know more about it before talking to the Guild's officers. They decided to break into Flaugh's house to retrieve the possible ledger where he keeps all the notes about what those three traitors; Cyrick (rats), Weller (rats), and Xorn (owls), might be telling Flaugh about the guild.
Before they could find the opportunity to get in, they were assigned to another mission, two mission in sort.
Some would see those as beneath them after all they did for the guild, but as Zephyros did put it; There are no job or mission that is beneath anyone, every job is to help the Guild move forward to winning the war against the Maleekym.
Indeed, the jobs were very strange and seamed futile, almost like picking up garbage, but the guild had somehow decided to put Fhordax on their side; the Smith was known to be on the Maleekym's side until recently, and according to Silvester, the chance to turn him on our side was to accomplish all those ridiculous jobs. Knowing this could all be a trap, or even that Fhordax might be playing them, it was a risk the Guild had to take to try and bring him to their side.
Taking care of a dozen problems going on on that block, each more ridiculous or strange than the other.
Why did Fhordax wanted all these things to be taken care of has yet to be discovered, but two of those jobs fell into our group's hands.
1) Check out strange noises coming from a house in the north side of the block. A woman neighbor apparently keeps complaining about the noises at her neighbors and apparently she can't do anything about it.
2) A man claims a Bear broke into his house and hurt his 11 years old son. They are to investigate to find out what exactly was going on in there.
Our group decided to go for the strange noises first, but as they talked with the woman and realized the only way they could know more, was to break into the neighbor's house, they decided to wait until dawn.
They moved on to the second job, interrogated the man and investigated the house. The investigation showed bear scratches on the counter, but the marks were not actual bear claw marks, but fake one made by some form of blade. They also discovered actual real bear tracks outside the house, leading away from the house, yet no track led the bear towards the house.
They followed those tracks to the next block across the street, from the conflict zone to Red Gate territory. Then the tracks stopped. The investigated the area where the tracks irrefutably vanished and found other humanoid tracks, one in particular that seemed odd, for being naked feet.
They followed those tracks all the way south to the Ghetto's Dog House, where they found a 13 years old human girl, naked and hiding under a balcony.
Mithran, disguised as a young boy, decided to talk with the girl while the others watched in case she'd run off.
The girl was still confused at first, a little in shock maybe, but Mithran giving her his jacket and his pants, once covered, she felt safer to come out in daylight and she seemed to trust Mithran as he subtly interrogated her to determine if she was in fact, the bear.
All and all, as they talked, Mithran introduced her to the others after bringing her to a safehouse, Zephyros bought some clothing for her and she was thankful.
She revealed that her name was Tatianna and that she had indeed transformed into a Bear for the first time in her life.
She claims that she went to bed in her own house and woke up in that man's house; Georald as he was about to rape her which is when she suddenly turned into a Bear.
She remembers running up some stairs, toppling a desk on the way and running over a young boy before she exited the house.
Tatianna asked if they would kill Georald for her, but they kindly declined, not saying that it wouldn't be possible.
Mithran did suggest that maybe the man did kidnap her from her bed, but also that her parent's may have sold her to the man. She then asked if they would kill her parents if this was actually true, but again, they declined politely, not saying that it wouldn't be possible.
Her attitude made Nanouk think that she could make a good addition to the guild and started to try and recruit her.
From that point, they reported back to Silvester about her and the possibility of her joining the guild, as well as asking what to do next about this job.
Because Nanouk vouched for the girl, Silverster put him in charge of vetting the girl, now called Anna, although no one even told Silverster what the girl's name was.
Bringing her to accomplish the other mission to break into the neighbor's house would be a good way to see her in a thievery situation and evaluate her.
They talked some more until dawn and went to the house to complete that first job.
Using the cover of night, they picked the lock and rushed inside, shutting the door behind them, only to be attacked by two giant Boars.
They fought well and no one got hurt. Anna was able to attack once and showed bravery (or a complete lack of fear in the face of danger).
After investigating the house and searching the place, they discovered a few things about the Taxidermist man; Jhofrey the Half-Elf, who's body they found eaten to shreds by the boars.
Based on some notes they found on a desk, tainted with ink, Jhofrey was paid 75 gp to create two statues with the boars. The man who gave him the boars is called Aikos, but the notes doesn't specify if the boars were alive or dead when Aikos handed them to Jhofrey. Once turned into statues, Jhofrey was to deliver them to another man called Zoren, living in the Fullermour Estate in Noble Hill, in Barranor.
The note didn't help figure out more about this job and everything else was ancient history, jobs Jhofrey did years ago for various people.
While looking for those 75 GP, they also found a secret stash in one of the larger animal statues in the house. A treasure large enough to finance the Red Gates guild for a century, maybe tip the balance of the war, should this wealth be used properly.
A total of approximately 1864 GP in gold, jewelry, gems and more.
As they all stared in awe to the treasure, their minds going nuts and wild about weather or not they would split it and hide it, or if they were going to tell Silvester about it and hand it all to their guild.
Note: The Guild's policy/rule is to give everything back to their guild when they do find wealth during a given/assigned mission. Usually, when it comes to items, armors, weapons, and such, the guild members would be able to ask for something from the loot and the officers would consider it, more often than not, give to them, but for wealth, they'd only be given what the guild would call; their fair share, after it would all be put in the officer's hands.
What will they do?
Are they going to split it between them and keep it a secret?
Will Anna be included in that split if they chose this path?
Or will they disclose it all, loyally to the guild?
To be continued...
